Phill圜HEEEEEZ: (Busting through the wall a la Kool-Aid Man) STOP! it's not.ĭFS Bro 1: Woah, dude! Jean Segura's Sum-Z score is insane today! He's at 18.453!ĭFS Bro 2: Holy crap man! Lock that guy in at SS right away!ĭFS Bro 1: Totally man! And look, he only costs $2,500 tonight too!ĭFS Bro 2: Did someone say VALUEEEEEEE?!?!?!? This is not fabricated in any way, shape or form. Let's take a look at a real life occurrence when I saved someone from making the worst decision of their life by almost playing Jean Segura. As with any statistical analysis, you need to look deeper. This doesn't mean that the Sum-Z score is a be-all and end-all solution for finding out who to play. And at a salary of $2,900 on FanDuel tonight, you better believe I'm going to have him in my lineups. It's important to note here that Billy Butler is facing Justin Verlander tonight, a pitcher he is notorious for completely owning (Holy crap is this analysis actually working!? :P). This means that, overall, his individual Z-scores are more often larger than the mean than smaller. In today's analysis we can see that Billy Butler has the highest Sum-Z value at 28.180. What this represents is the overall statistical difference from the mean for an individual batter. For the purpose of this analysis, however, I've decided to sum each player's Z-scores. Now that the data is normalized, it is much easier for us to understand and we can compare one statistic to another much easier. The lower the Z score, the smaller the observation is than the mean. The higher the Z score, the larger the observation is than the mean. It then standardizes each stat for each batter by converting them into Z-scores, which represents the number of standard deviations an observed point of data is above or below the mean. This analysis of Batter vs Pitcher data investigates each hitter's statistics against the pitcher they are scheduled to face on a given night. Why not use what I've been learning in my educational studies and apply it to lineup analysis? My Daily Batter vs Pitcher (and soon to come Last 15 days) analysis was born and I've never looked back! I started out slow and didn't really make a profit for a few months. I've been an avid member of the DFS scene for over a year now and I absolutely love it. I'm 26 and just recently earned my Master's Degree in Data Analytics. Seeing as this is the first of many (hopefully) daily analyses I will be posting I see fit to introduce myself. Please check our MLB Batter Splits Tool each morning for the most accurate BvP, Lefty/Righty, Home/Road and Day/Night splits. As an homage to /u/BleedingFromEyes and all his fantastic (and very much appreciated!) insight into the daily NBA fantasy scene, I decided that I will do something along those lines for the 2014 MLB season for those of us who play on FanDuel. The starting pitcher schedule may change and thus BvP splits would change. Please note that this sheet will be posted each Sunday during the MLB season. Each day’s BvP Splits are separated into two pages. (Ethan) Created 8 years ago, Last Updated 9 years ago MLB Batter vs.
